Bhagwan Ramji

Bhagwan Ramji (12 September 1937 - 29 November 1992), popularly known as Sarkar Baba, Aghoreshwar Bhagwan Ram and Awadhoot Bhagwan Ram, was a great saint. He was born in Gundi village in the Indian state of Bihar.

Awadhoot Bhagwan Ram was a great Saint as well as social reformer, who benefited poor and downtrodden people, fought against the dowry system, simplified the wedding ceremony and worked towards social welfare including education for the poor.

He lost his father at a young age. Although his grandmother got him admitted to the village school, he never had any interest in studies. With the lapse of time, he developed disinterest towards mundane life and preferred to lead a reclusive life in a hut constructed amidst guava grove, away from human habitation. Starved, he loitered from one place to another and finally reached Varanasi where he sought shelter in Baba Keenaram Sthal Krim-Kund ( Headquarter / Pilgrim of Aghor sect. across world ) .

There he was introduced to the Keenarami Aughar tradition of sainthood by Baba Rajeshwar Ram Ji, at Baba Keenaram Sthal, but he could not remain there for long period. He left the ashram and wandered along river banks. In course of practicing severe Sadhna he became extremely lean and thin and thereafter attained God realization. Gradually, his name and fame traveled far and wide and wherever he stayed for the purpose of Sadhna, people flocked to him in large number for seeking blessings.

Later on his guru called him back to stay at the ashram, although he obeyed his Guru he left the ashram after paying due respect since he had to play a greater role in the society not only as a mere saint but as a servant of afflicted and neglected populace on the broader canvas of humanity, nationality and universality.

For his deep respect for women he taught people to give them due honour as the source of energy and giver of nectar in form of milk.

He opened a hospital for lepers in Varanasi under the banner of Sri Sarveshwari Samooh.

He took Samadhi 0n 29 November 1992 in Manhattan, USA.

For the first time in the history of Aghori tradition, his body was consigned to fire as per Hindu rituals by his disciple Baba Siddharth Gautam Ram the current Peethadheswar (Abbot) of Baba Keenaram Sthal.
